Self Introduction
1976年東京生まれ。東京都立新宿高校、早稲田大学を卒業後、フリーランスのデザイナーとして活動を開始。同時に北陸先端科学技術大学院大学にて修士（知識科学）を取得。2007年に山形大学大学院より論文「情報デザイン概念に基づく"Information Reuse and Integration"とその工学的拡張」にて博士号を授与。神奈川工科大学助手、園田学園女子大学専任講師を経て、2008年に東洋大学工学部・准教授。2017年より東洋大学大学院総合情報学研究科・教授。合同会社 藤本情報デザイン事務所・ファウンダー／執行役員クリエイティブデザイナー。
Born in Tokyo in 1976. After graduating from Tokyo Metropolitan Shinjuku High School and Waseda University, began working as a freelance designer. At the same time, earned a master’s degree (Knowledge Science) at the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. In 2007, was awarded a doctoral degree by Yamagata University Graduate School for the dissertation “Information Reuse and Integration Based on the Concept of Information Design and Its Engineering Extension.” After serving as an assistant at Kanagawa Institute of Technology and as a full-time lecturer at Sonoda Women’s University, became an associate professor in the Faculty of Engineering at Toyo University in 2008. Since 2017, has been a professor at the Graduate School of Information Sciences, Toyo University. Founder / Executive Officer and Creative Designer at Fujimoto Information Design Office LLC.

Message
「芸術は現代的になり得ない。芸術とは根本的に永遠である。」
AI時代の今、オーストリアの画家、エゴン・シーレのこの言葉に、ぼくは手元にあるスマートフォンをぶち壊したくなる衝動と、そこはかとない恐怖にも似た感動を覚える。ぼくはデザイナーとしてキャリアをスタートさせ、情報デザインの研究者として今に至っている。残念ながら、いわゆる「芸術家」としては確認できるような存在ではないかもしれない。しかし、デザイナーが今日において、瞬間の情動を凍り付かせるという芸術活動の一部を担い、あるいは芸術家の端くれとして扱われるのであれば（写真家がそうであるように）、おそらくエゴン・シーレのこの言葉はぼくに当てはめてもよいのではないか、と萎縮しつつも感じている。
“Art cannot be modern. Art is primordially eternal.”
Now, in the age of AI, when I encounter these words by the Austrian painter Egon Schiele, I feel both an impulse to smash the smartphone in my hand and a vague, fear-like sense of awe. I began my career as a designer and have arrived at the present as a researcher in information design. Unfortunately, I may not be a presence that can be clearly identified as what is called an “artist.” However, if designers today are responsible for part of the artistic activity of freezing momentary emotions, or if they are treated as a kind of artist, so to speak (as photographers are), then perhaps Schiele’s words may be applied to me as well—or so I feel, albeit with a sense of shrinking hesitation.
